I thought use of stem cells involved embryos?

I read that stem cells can only be found in embryos and fetal tissues.  Is that true?

NO. In fact, most "stem cell treatments" actually being delivered today are those from autologous (your own)or non-autologous (from other human sources) taken from a vast number of ADULT stem/stromal cell elements from adipose (fat tissue capillaries) or bone marrow aspiration. These are ONLY adult origin in almost all cases. That means they possess less risk of tumor formation, reactions (none to your own), and less controversies dealing with use of embryro tissues.
